Self-Assessment

Are you successful? Isn’t that a loaded question? Success can be measured in so many ways… I prefer to measure success based on the evolution of ones ‘Will’.
I interviewed a young man who wanted to partner up with me in business… he came in dressed in a suit and tie, very well mannered. I asked him what he considered to be his biggest obstacle, he said: Money. I returned with: If money is your only obstacle ..then my dear man, you have no obstacle, the sky is the limit - all you have to do now is go make it.
He is a success in his mind. That is the first place where success is built.
Below is a an exercise I do with my partners to help us be on top of our game and seek to become better. Give it a shot… and be sincere with yourself.
How Successful Am I? Self-Assessment

Read each statement below.

2. I take full responsibility for my actions, behaviors, and attitudes. I avoid “passing the buck” or blaming others for my problems and mistakes.
3. I have an established marketing plan for my business.
4. I make a special effort to cooperate with the other members of my team (or co-workers) and make sure that I consistently carry my share of the load.
5. I am committed to providing the best customer service possible.
6. I remember my promises and commitments, and I KEEP them.
7. I make a special effort to accept and support change rather than resist it. You can count on me to willingly try new things.
8. When I’m down, I avoid whining, complaining, or otherwise spreading negative feelings to my coworkers.
9. I look for (and seize) opportunities to help my team be successful rather than just “being in it for myself.”
10. I treat everyone with the same level of dignity and respect that I want for myself and the people I care about.
11. I continually look for (and create) opportunities to learn new things.
12. I value and appreciate people with ideas, backgrounds, and demographic characteristics that are different from mine.
13. I truly appreciate the opportunities I receive, the people I work with, the customers I serve, and the fact that I have a business to be successful at.
14. I make a habit of asking others for feedback on how I’m doing…and I ACT on that feedback.
15. I engage in specific behaviors (rest, exercise, diet) to keep myself in good physical health.

Go back and highlight each of the statements for which you checked the NO box. These are areas you should work on in order to increase your overall success.
